Target Identified

Well after searching around my desired target area and seeing nothing I was beginning to feel a bit discouraged. Until yesterday when after returning from a dump run I decided to follow a not so common road to see where it went. I had my son Brandon with me when we came upon these two youngsters you see in the pictures. When I first spotted them I had to point them out to brandon. Deer are particularly good at blending in. I decided to see how close I could get to them before they decided to move. I could have slapped them. So I marked their location with my GPS, took Brandon home grabbed the camerea and walked, (Yes they are actually less than one square Kilometer from my home) to where they were. When I was within 300 Meteres of them I went into sniper mode and began stalking downwind of their location, stopping every 25 meteres or so to glass for them. Once they were spotted I began to stalk to within a few feet of their location and took about 41 pictures. What was interesting to me is that one of them is a pure bread mule deer and the other is a mule-Columbian cross. The reason I took so many pictures is that I was trying to snap the key features that set them apart. You can't just stand up and ask them to turn this way or that, LOL. After having my fun I left them to enjoy the rest of their afternoon in peace. I figure I will have plenty of time to get to know them before the harvest. Yes, I am that detailed when I hunt. I don't just go out and pick the first deer that comes along, I go out and get to know a few in the area and pick the best target for harvest. I want the biggest buck for my bang, LOL. So looking at these two, I think I will take the Mule because they are so hard to find and they are generally larger and provide more meat. Unless of course he has a much buffer friend around?
